September Show & Nick’s Sunset Celebration 11th – 13th September 2020 – Arrivals from Thusday 10th midday unless coming to help when individual arrangements will be made. Please PM if you have time to come earlier in the week and help with the setup.
Update 27th August
I am delighted to say that all the events except the village ride will be going ahead as planned. We have a good number of people committed to attending and we will be feeling our way forward. This is a new normal and we have to start somewhere. Some classes will only have one or two entrants and others have 8 currently, which is a great number under the circumstances. All will be going ahead to allow everyone to practice their new roles and the new rules we have to adhere to.
I will be publishing entry lists on Facebook periodically between now and the Tuesday before the show when we will close all entries to allow clear time to practice.
Friday will be a quiet day, most people are arriving during the day on Friday. I am hoping that all prep will be completed by the end of Thursday (it should be) and Friday I will be encouraging those with horses to use the track to practice and go on the rides around the tracks around the farm. There will be people to help direct those who are not so familiar.
Hog Roast (and Veggie Option) 5.00pm Friday onwards
The hog roast will be available from 5.00pm There will be tables allocated for the bubbles, please look out for your table – send one person to look and the rest wait at the car – I will be emailling ground plans. There is a bar provided – with Guinness! I will pay for the round to celebrate Nick but please either bring your own drinks and drinking vessels or buy from the bar for the rest. Please make sure you have your drinks in good time for the ceremony. We are using compostable eating and drinking materials apart from metal cutlery if you want it. For Covid and practical reasons. Rubbish bags will be attached to each table, Please separate cooked food and compostable waste.
Sunset Celebration approximately 7.30pm
The celebration itself will be very simple. We will gather at the oval track with socially distanced pre-placed chairs with a drink in time for the sunset celebration. We will gather and be seated in good time, feel free to make your way over to the oval track at any time once you have collected your food if you are just coming for the celebration and haven’t been allocated a table. We won’t be allocating seats but please don’t move them around apart from if you want to get closer in your own bubble. As always please fill in from the far end so people have to pass as few others as possible. Feel free to walk down the centre of the oval if you need refills or the loo or to get to spare seats.
As the sun sets the hearse (the Mystery Machine from a previous fancy dress, kindly donated by Ruth Colwill) will bring Nick’s ashes to the centre of the oval track – the girls will then get out of the van and leave it and Nick’s ashes there. Corwen will say a few well chosen words and as the sun sets (presuming we can see it – we may have to imagine) he will launch a flaming arrow into the Mystery Machine and we will raise a glass and a final cheer to say a very fond farewell to our wonderful Wizard. Fancy dress is welcome if you feel it is appropriate for you. I am undecided for myself at the moment. After the flames have died and we have wiped our eyes, we will disperse. Home, the bar, your bubble bases or tents. It’s a shame we can’t make it more sociable but safety has to be our first priority.
Oakfield Show September 2020
We are offering all the individual classes (only group classes to those in the same bubble for covid reasons, if there is time individuals will be offered the chance of competing alone) plus a bubble beer tolt and socially distanced drill riding (using lunge whips and bubble teams). Fancy Dress will be socially distanced.
There are be two parts to the entry form – Friday fun and September Show.
We would like you to form bubbles where you can. Those who have already been to Oakfield events, those going to Fi’s camp and any other events that are happening between now and then. Please discuss between yourselves and come up with bubble names. We will accomodate and feed you together and use the bubbles as teams for some events.
Please still come if you don’t have the opportunity to meet up with other people before the show, particularly to Nick’s Sunset Celebration.
We will be offering socially distanced food, served to a bubble at a time with the minimum number of people coming to collect food (all cutlery, glasses & crockery will be compostable to save exposure, please bring your own mug if you want tea/coffee from the Teazebo only) We will set up shelters around the accomodation/yard named for your bubble to eat and socialise together. The side of the oval track will be open all the way around so you can spread yourselves into your bubbles all around the perimeter. We will not be using the club house for socialising or eating.
We will ask that you wear masks when collecting food and using the toilets/washing and washing up facilities if you are self catering.
There will be no rosette presentations. Rosettes will be left with the scores outside the clubhouse, we will post on any that are left behind.
Please use the appropriate entry forms below. You will need to fill in both if you are coming to the Sunset Celebration and the Show.
More information will be shared on our Facebook pages in the week before the show as we know how many people are taking part and payment will be collected then the so you don’t have to rush to commit now, but please do sign up as an intention.
Entry Lists are published during the week leading up to the show for checking and a final qualifier timetable and final entry list is published Wednesday evening here and on our Facebook Page.
